Sustainability at UpVisit: from ambition to action

We believe that digitalization and sustainability do not have to be opposites - on the contrary. If done right, technology can be the key to a more sustainable event industry.

That's why we launched an internal sustainability project at UpVisit at the beginning of 2025. An interdisciplinary team of six colleagues is working on systematically integrating sustainability into our business model, our products and our corporate culture.

Why we do this

As a growing SaaS company in the event tech sector, we bear responsibility - not only towards our customers, but also towards society and the environment. Sustainability is not a trend, but a necessity. Our motivation is clear: we want to create real impact, help our customers to become more sustainable themselves and at the same time increase the attractiveness of our company for talents, partners and investors.

We see sustainability not just as a duty, but as a strategic asset. A value that pays off - ecologically, socially and economically.

Our roadmap: From the idea to implementation

In our first two workshops, we defined together where we stand, what our goals are - and how we want to achieve them.

Five fields of action have emerged:

1. impactful partnerships: We want to work specifically with NGOs, sustainable brands and event organizers to create added social value through joint projects.

2. access & accessibility: Our product should be accessible to everyone - including people with disabilities. The first steps concern design aspects such as contrasts, font sizes and alternative display formats for content.

3. inspire & empower customers: We are developing a "Sustainable Event Playbook" that provides event organizers with practical tips for sustainable events - from travel to catering.

4. sustainability in the business model: sustainability becomes part of our positioning and investor strategy. Our goal: an ESG-compliant growth story that is reflected in every pitch deck and reporting.

5. internal awareness & education: To turn individual initiatives into a genuine rethink, we raise awareness internally - with e-learning, focus months and voluntary action days.

What we have achieved so far

We are already actively working on a number of specific measures:

- Reduction of physical materials at events

- Promotion of sustainable mobility for event visitors

- Inspiration from best practices of sustainable brands (e.g. Ecosia, Brammibal's, Recup)

- Raising awareness of digital CO₂ footprints

Our goal is to develop a sound sustainability strategy by Q4 2025 that will make UpVisit measurably more sustainable as a digital company - and make us the benchmark in the event tech industry.

Our claim: responsibility meets growth

We want to show that a startup does not have to sacrifice sustainability as it grows - on the contrary: those who live clear values early on will be more successful in the long term. We invite our customers, partners and investors to become part of this journey.‍
